DoKDoK 2015

4th DoKDoK conference to be held 10th-15th October 2015 in Eisenach, Germany

Final Call DoKDoK 2015  Extended Deadline - Final Call July 1st

What is DoKDoDK?
It is a conference exclusively for PhD students in optics and photonics, organized by fellow PhD students. The purpose is to help young researchers from different areas of optics and photonics connect with each other, exchange knowlegde, polish their conference presentation skills, suggest exciting career options after your PhD, discuss the ups and downs of academic life and make geeky jokes by the bar.

What to expect?
We put a lot of thought into the preparation of DoKDoK 2015 and the program is packed with a lot of exciting content: On Sunday, we start off with a nice WELCOME RECEPTION to get to know everyone. On Monday evening we will have our POSTER SESSION with a special section for those who just started their PhDs recently. There will be a prize for the BEST POSTER by the OSA Student Chapter Jena! The IOF Jena will set up an exciting FIBRE COUPLING COMPETITION game. On Tuesday is our SOCIAL DAY, where we invite you to spend the afternoon at the Automobile Welt Eisenach and the famous Wartburg Castle. On Wednesday, we will host the PRACTICE YOUR VIVA Session for those who are close to the finish line (some slots are still available, but the numer is limited!). Prof. Tilman Reitz will give a PRE-DINNER TALK before we enjoy our CONFERENCE DINNER together.
Throughout the week, there will be KEYNOTE LECTURES every morning by successful guests who hold a PhD in physics or a related field, but have taken different career paths since and share their experience with you. Several COMPANIES from the optics and photonics industry will present their latest technologies and current development at DoKDoK. You will have a chance to chat with their representatives about their products as well as available JOB OFFERS. If you do not want to go back yet to your lab on Thursday afternoon, why not finish the week with us and stay for our AUTUMN SCHOOL: On Thursday afternoon, Prof. Reitz will give an interesting workshop on Science Sociology and on Friday morning, Dr. Ulrike Fuchs from asphericon will teach you all about aspheric optics from design and manufacturing principles to real application.
